Göran Olsson (Violin) is a traditional fiddler from Jämtland, Sweden, known for his light and captivating playing style. Schooled from the musical tradition of his region, he grew up learning in the living rooms and kitchens of local masters. Göran is a 4th generation bearer of the Lapp-Nils tradition with many of the old master’s polkas in his repertoire, and one of a few fiddlers that is keeping the tunes from Erik Larsson, Ansätten, alive. As a dance fiddler he was featured at many of the workshops taught by Göran and Inger Karlholm, and for twenty years he was a fiddler at the annual Polska Dance Medal Testing in Sweden. His fiddle has brought him on many adventures ranging from solo fiddling at The Opera House in Bangkok to dog-mushing competitions in Fairbanks, Alaska. He has taught music and dance classes at festivals, workshops, and camps around the world. Göran Olsson has been, for many times over the years, a featured fiddler at Scandia D.C.
